Yep got me there. Now I'm off to count my cash and wonder if I had tried harder at school could I have been a Steward?

If you run out of fingers pop into the mess I'm sure there'll be a couple of stewards in there ready to lend you a couple of fingers.

Heard there were a few surprises on this Board including some fairly junior Sgts getting selected????:PDT_Xtremez_41:

I've only heard 2 names but dont know either of them. No one at conz got lucky from what I've been told.

Jealousy. I,m sure they are the best thing since sliced bread. Watch out as they could be your Sqn WO next, quite a few of the **** yer pants brigade retire over the next 18 months.:PDT_Xtremez_15:

.

Know a couple of them, one of them got picked up on only 3 assessments!!:PDT_Xtremez_17:

Seems to be a mix of experience and young guys coming off of most boards these days. Know the guy who came off after only 3 and think he's good for it - hard to tell until you work with him I suppose

KG, who do you speak to get a written career brief? I'm sure it says on acos manning, they are no longer available, so they put up a FAQ page.
I cant beleive a stringy glasses bloke from an oxford unit has the chance to be a FS. What has the world come too. Not so long ago he was at the school of training 2005 i think he left. Are we doomed to the new generation

Yeap, the last Supp Gens (AAs) will disappear into the sunset soon muttering about the demise of the AP830, machine rooms and hi-valu accounting. Over to the BT1 and 2 generation.

Not quite Gillo, we of the Supplier 2 & Supplier 1 generation have a few years to go yet.

Sorry but promex to king 3 bananna has passed you grumpy old gits by. I mean what use was a Supp 2 for other than painting Tech Stores floors, as for Supp 1s, just poor excuse for Supp Gens::P: .

Now when I was lad surrounded by punch paper tape, etc etc.

Ah! But I loved the smell of newly laid non-slip gray and red oxide in the morning:D

You never can tell - must of been a cracking SJAR they got to get picked up after only 3. Think a lot of it has to do with the job that they are in as well which isnt always in your control. There are a lot of things that are down to luck like that and which we have no real control over.......:PDT_Xtremez_26:

My only concern is the experience they have at Sgt level to apply it as a FS!!

Good luck to them as we seem to be falling more in line with the British Army promotion timescales; albeit this may not necessarily be the best thing for our Service.

From what I've seen/experienced if you can cut it as a Sgt and run a section decently then applying yourself to manage a flight is not that much more of a challenge.

Obviously different units, different circumstances.

And if we're all truthfully honest it's even less work than being a Sgt, mission command, empowering subordinates etc.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Having spoken to my Chief Clerk in the past few weeks, and seen my pre boarding scores, I have been told that you needed 54 points to be an 'A' candidate this year (the chief Clerk can tell you this from JPA -but you can't see it - great system eh!) Anyway back to the subject, with two people scoring it in 'pre-boarding' from a range of 1 to 9 it means you need to get a 9 from each of the preboarders for three years solid- that has got to be some going - webbed feet springs to mind! Especially as one of these assessments would be your '6 months in rank' assessment!
As a Spec rec will not make you an A candidate (only mean your are read by teh pre boarding cell) I hope these individuals can maintain it as a FS with lots of senior Sgts below them.

I hope this helps or perhaps lengthens the queue at the Chief Clerks office!:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Just to add a little more fuel o this debate. I agree with what has been said, but do you agree that it all boils down to the fact that the person in the pre boarding cell who reads you on the morning he didn't get his leg over will score you differently if he had!!!:PDT_Xtremez_09: And of course I know we are getting one of gods trade in the pre boarding cell but at the moment you are being read by someone who will be in the top pay bracket come 1 Apr 09, so they cannot be wrong can they?******

And it also depends on who is writing on you nowadays. If you have someone who cannot string two words together YOU are being penalised. So when you get your next SJAR if it sounds good say it is not and make them change it so it reads 10 times better, if they can.:S
