woke up yesterday morning with a letter from my local afco waiting for me. My application has been cancelled. I'm presuming i'm not the only one who this has happened to. So dissapointed. have to wait till around june when the trade re-opens which sucks. i was only waiting for my dates as well. another 18 months before i get in then :(

choices, choices, choices

choices, choices, choices

Have you looked at possibly going in for another trade? I'm pretty sure we're not up to full manpower across the board yet!!

What would be the point if he's interested in AMM(AV)?

He should go for the role he is is interested in, rather than try to get a quick route in, which will most likely end in tears.

yeah i thought about applying for a different trade as my friend who applied at the same time for me as a movements controller starts in july. But yeah i'm only interested in AMM AV or AMM M and they are both closed. it will be worth the wait i guess. Just hope i dont complete everything again and it is cancelled again.

Or even another service? How about Fleet Air Arm or Army Air Corp?

Everything is up in the air at the minute on this side of the fence so don't get too disheartened. We had ACOS manning down a few weeks back (They have a strong hand on how our career developes) who informed us that we are a decent number light WRT Trade Group 1. On the flipside of that coin they have to find spaces for those that are kicking their heels at the bases which are shutting down.

Once this debacle which is the General Election is out of the way and the imminent Strategic Defence Review is completed it'll be much clearer.

That could be a good or bad thing though depending on the Elections outcome but don't get me started on that one......

Who knows but if we aren't then it could be worth a squirt!

Lads/lasses, the NAVY are still taking on. My lads have joined recently, as Aircraft Tech & Marine Engineer.

I enjoyed my 25 years in the RAF, but the Navy is every bit as good (well nearly)

Take a look, who knows where it may lead?

Yes they are. In 2-3 YEARS time. Joining the RN is not a quick route at the moment. At least when our trades are available, we can generally offer a job within 6 months.

That's not the current situation as per the RN recruiters in my office. Well done to your sons though.

same happened to me in november pal,was really bad news, the new application process isn't much fun either. The application forms are processed on a 1st come 1st serve basis, had to take a day off to get my application in this time, did it as quick as i could and was lucky to be successful. Hope you keep your chin up and go for it again as i think the raf is something once you commit to applying, you know its what you want! Good luck mate.
