  • Hi,

No problems, will help all I can.

There are no other references I'm afraid, the ELGD pretty much covers it all. You can email the engineering licensing department at the CAA (email address below) if you wish. They may have some additional information but knowing how they work, they are likely to just refer you to the ELGD.

Unfortunately there are no short cuts to getting a Part-66 licence and you must satisfy the authorities by meeting the necessary criteria. For ex military technicians this is currently successful completion of the modular examinations and a minimum of 1 years actual hands on experience in a Part-145 approved maintenance environment. You should also note that the civil aircraft experience must be relevant to the licence category being sought. For example, if you are working towards a B1.1 licence (turbine aeroplanes) you must acrue the civil experience on turbine aeroplanes above 5700kg TOW.

Part-147 only covers the training side of things and will not offer any exemptions or credits in obtaining a licence. You still need the hands on experience.

    Where are you currently working?
Have you done the modular examinations?

    Regards
    DH
