Britains Nuclear Bomb Scandal….BBC Wed 20 November

Yes watched it. Staggered by the offical position of the time. I knew of the British servicemens involvement but until last night I was unaware of the impact on the resident Aboriginal people of the areas near the test sites. From the TV program the effects of the radition, it would appear, still linger on in the children and grandchildren of some of those involved. Father time has vastly reduced the numbers of participants almost as if the authorities are simply delaying taking action until all the Op Grapple guys are gone. I suspect the true extent of the tests and their aftermath will never be officially revealed and Op Grapple will, the authorities hope, gradually fade into history.

Didn't see it last night although I watched something similar a few months back.
It's just typical of UK Govt to kick problems around until those who suffer pop their clogs. It's always the same, make up more and more excuses to try to put the claimants off so they either give up or die, (whichever comes first), that way the final payout gets reduced. It's happening now with the Post Office staff who were screwed over 'fraud', the poor buggers who got Aids/HIV from dodgy blood from the USA, numerous medical negligence claims, etc, etc. It'll be the same for the claims from the Sea King crews regarding asbestos/exhaust exposure.
The only people who'll get compensation from the UK Govt will be those who are claiming 'slavery reparation' because Queer Stamper and Larry the Lammy will drop their strides and bend over and take it dry just because it's a trendy 'woke' thing to do.

Our father was a RAF copper who died from Acute Monocytic Leukaemia back in 1959 which came on very suddenly. He died leaving 6 kids and my mother, I was the youngest at 4 mths, the eldest 8. Our mother applied for a WWP but was knocked back. Reapplied the following year and knocked back again. Got on with life bringing us all up. Fast forward to 2000 and she applied for a review of the 1959 decision after her case was taken up by her MP Nicholas Winterton..
To quote from a letter from the MOD regarding the matter…’Since the decision in 1959 there has been an expansion of research into the aetiology of the condition Leukaemia which can now be attributable to service because of environmental factors’ The legislation regarding claim was changed in April 1997 limiting the timescale for which claims could be backdated…ie only until 1997.
To add insult to injury the letter further stated ‘ ….because medical opinion regarding the aetiology of Leukaemia was evolving in the 1970’s , had Mrs ,,,,,,, applied for a review around that time it is likely she would have been awarded a WWP’. Instead, our mother trained as a nurse and got on with her life.
In my eyes the letter and eventual awarding of a WWP amounts to an admission of guilt on the MOD’s behalf.
