Hi all,

To cut a long story short Natasha our 17 year old daughter has an inoperable, untreatable brain tumour which has made her blind. Her condition is terminal.

She went from being completely normal to blind and diagnosed with her brain tumour in under a week. She has managed fantastically well in adapting to not being able to see.

A couple of weeks ago she said "I want to help people less fortunate than me" and decided to do a sponsored 100 mile exercise bike ride on Sat 22nd Nov 08.

She wants to raise as much cash as she can for the following causes:

Help for Heroes (you all know what that is about)

CLIC Sargent (helps children with cancer and without their support we would have been down the tubes)

Brooke Gould is a local 2 year old girl with cerebral palsy who needs some specialist equipment. The local NHS have refused to fund it and her parents can't afford it.

She wants to raise as much as she can for these 3 causes but as her Dad I can say she will get a huge sense of achievement out of doing it. The last week has been crap for her as all her mates are learning to drive, gettting jobs and going out etc and she will never get to do any of these things. She needs a big boost to put the smile back on her face and raising a large amount of money will do it. This is a real challenge for her as her tumour makes her fatigued very quickly.

I have produced an info and sponsor sheet and a page explaining about Natasha but have no idea how to post them on here.

The bank details for direct donations are:

Bank Barclays
Sort Code 20-67-37
Account No 30621935

If you need any more information please do not hesitate to contact me at

Please pass the word about and e-mail me for the info sheets.

Many thanks in advance for your generous support.

Thankfully we are not often asked to support such a deserving effort as this one. Natasha is obviously a very brave and caring young lady.

Please Goaters dig deep for one of our own.

Good on you Natasha:PDT_Xtremez_30:

UPDATE

Natasha started pedalling at 0915 this morning and has just hit the 50 miles mark.

The whinging is spectacular but to be fair she is in some pain. Between monking bouts she is in great spirits though :)

Congrats to her SS, do you have a time limit on the money coming in? Is it ok to send money after pay day? (typical me, running low on cash towards the end of the month).

Good luck to her and the final 50 miles! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

No time limit at all and we are very aware what time of year it is and that cash is scarce so thank you for every penny, they all count.

55 miles cracked and she is now on a quick lunchbreak. Duringt that time I have tasked her with sweeping the hangar and refulleing all the wagons. Her choice as to whether she squanders her time eating or not.

Done!

Done!

100 miles all done and dusted and we are very proud of her. The last few were very painful for her but she just cracked on and finsihed with tears streaming down her face.

Thank you to all who have supported her in any way.

A massive well done to her!!!! I will be sending you some dosh on my days off, she should be very proud of herself, its no mean feat what she has done, not many could do it, even those in good health! Well done again!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

A fantastic achievement!! :PDT_Xtremez_30: I hope she's proud of herself and gets a lovely warm bubble bath now to ease those aching muscles. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Ladies and gentlemen

Please accept my apologies for not writing sooner. Natasha successfully completed her challenge on Saturday. The last 8 miles were very painful for her and it is testament to her determination that she didn’t stop and just kept pedalling. She finished with tears streaming down her face but with a huge smile too.

This week has been very busy. Between commuting the 75 miles to London for work we spent all day Tuesday as guests of the Gladiators watching the filming of one of the special episodes and meeting all of them afterwards. Thursday night was spent at Wembley watching Natasha’s favourite band McFly in concert.

Thank you very much for your generous donations and support. The total is rising steadily and as of today stands at £1620 all bar a few pence.

Once again on behalf of all of us thank you.

Just got home and Natasha has been awarded a Gold Blue Peter badge for her efforts raising money for charity depsite her circumstances.

Not sure if I mentioned this but she helps out at the hospice where she is a patient.

I wish I was like her.
