Just a quick question to the community...Do you get a golden handshake if you PVR anytime after your 12 year point??

E.G. If I sign off at 14 years, will they give me some dosh or not??

Not getting out, just wondering thats all.

Cheers in advance!

i may be wrong but let's get this straight you want to VOLUNTARILY give up your lob and expect a pay out at the end of it all?

im thinking thats a NO :PDT_Xtremez_42:

You get the 12 year resettlement grant when you leave and then a preserved pension once you are 60 or 65 (cant remember which).

sort of

sort of

resettlement grant is about 9k i think, you only get this if you don't qualify for the IP, which is the same if you leave at 12 or 21 year point. you get the same terminal leave and resetlement time too I think?
Go on PVR you know it makes sense!

not sure how it works if you leave at the new 18/40 point for the new pension scheme rather than waiting for the 22 year point

Both

Both

You get the 12 year resettlement grant when you leave and then a preserved pension once you are 60 or 65 (cant remember which).

If you stayed on the 75 pension scheme you will get some pension at 60 and the remainder at 65.

Well using that logic why do you need a grant if you leave after 22???

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something after 12 years!

Resettlement grant of 9k??

WTF.

They've been given a trade, why the fcuk do they need 9k to resettle??

.

I'm sure that when/if you are still serving, you would have been given all sorts of allowances and perks, and I'm sure you declined them all, didn't you ?? After all, we all joined the forces to travel the world etc......why should we expect GYH/HTD etc.... ???

So stop being a tit and trying to belittle the award of such a grant, to people who have had to put up with a hell of a lot of crap for 12 years !!

Yawn.

Haven't you got a fitness test to do or something.

Note to one's self. Must remember to use the ;) smiley next time to stop Leckie1 getting all uppity and flustered.

A question.

Why don't the guys who put up with 9 years of cr@p get anything to help them resettle?

Actually a very good question. I would have thought a grant at 9 years would also have been a nice gesture to service given.

At the end of the day, we are moved around from pillar to post, and 9K to give you a little help once you leave after 12 years is in my eyes the least that service leavers deserve.

I've heard a few people lately whinging about it and I have to say it pees me off a bit. It's there, it's there for everyone who leaves after 12 years (unless your leaving with a IP), and there really isn't any need to slag it off. IMO.

My tit remark was said in a smiley face fashion, honest guv ;-)

It's bad enough that we are losing allowances left right and centre (or having them cut), without people wishing the rest of them away.

And to make it worse, it's usually some ex RAF type (not implying you if you are ex RAF) who pipes up with their bitter rantings on something which they know very little about.
