Hi, I am hoping some of you guys/girls can help me. I hope I have posted in the right place.

So my my hubby is due a commitment bonus in 2 years 15 k. We *were* going to use this as a house deposit. But I made him sit down and do some serious number crunching. He'd rather just ignore it..........:PDT_Xtremez_42:

But anyway by the time, out tax credits have been decimated and then the child benefit removed....as it would put him into the 40% bracket for one year, as the allowances stand. We'd be worse off.

So we are thinking 6 year 7.5k and 5 year 5k maybe the better option...........Is this correct how have others found this?

You're right although I don't know you're individual circumstances and which scheme he's in (interim or new). Additionally with the current cut in manpower its not impossible that they might change the rules or qualifying criteria before he's entitled. If you're only paying low band tax on the lower amounts and 40% on the 15k then the difference might not be as much as the basic numbers suggest. Add into that 15k will be worth less in x yrs than 15k now further reducing the difference you'll be getting.
