Hello,
I am leaving the RAF next summer, worked out that I can finish work in March due to leave and resettlement, mate has put me up for a job in his company for extra cash as I am emigrating once time up in summer, just after advice and the official line if possible on outside working, my boss has already said that it's ok with him and once I get the offer we can sit down and work out my 'standdown' up to March, thanks for any help

No probs here, just doing the same myself. (Assuming 22 years+ service)

Just fill out the form to work during your annual and terminal leave.
You can't be employed during resettlement, but you can be on a Civilian Work Attachment, go speak with the clerk, they got the forms. This also allows you to claim up to 7 warrants so you get your travel paid.

For once a very simple process, just don't get greedy, I've known a few colleagues get greedy and then complain when they get their collar felt.

Not so long back a senior officer lost out cos he had the cheek to book into a mess close to his new employment, and he hadn't applied to work either.

It is so important to get that approval letter from PSF.

Cheers for the reply, it's not resettlement , I have already allocated my remaining days and warrants towards other courses, this is just a job to help with removal costs/pay for xmas etc when I leave

As was said to me (some moons ago)...the only people who really need to know are the Taxmen - and they don't really need to know!

Really though, as soon as your out the gate you've been forgotten by the RAF - but not by your mates (if you're lucky).

And why wait till your expiry date?

Pete, Killer is right. At most Stns, it's the P1 section that deals with working on leave, etc.

As long as you have their authorisation you will be able to work and earn whilst on leave/terminal leave.

You can still work on resettlement leave but you are not allowed to earn money whilst on resettlement. I would suggest you speak with your RRA or TDF.

Good luck with the emigration fella . :PDT_Xtremez_14:

The only big no no, apart from the usual 2 jobs rules (bouncer/conflict of interest/Service into disrepute) is the one where you shouldn't be getting two government wages at the same time, which is probably down to pension rules or something like that.

Apply in PSF and most applications are approved, if you're working for a mate then I guess he can give you work experience during IRP and perhaps up your hourly rate during your leave periods.

At the end of the day divy street will not wait until you get to that discharge day, they want you to start work when they want you to start work, and you'd be a fool to miss out not only on the money but more importantly the experience.

Good luck for the future bud.

Yeah, many people I know who have left have worked as soon as they leave and then received a bonus when they are 'allowed' to.....strange eh?

best of luck
