Is there anything you can do about a bad 2nd RO write up on your SJAR, my boss has nailed a few lads at work this year and seems to get away with it each time, his comments often totally fly in the face of the 1st RO recommendations and he has stated that he is not prepared to give out any spec recs this year no matter what the subject has done, on more than one occasion he has only met the individual once or twice (1st RO has no spine and the WO is not intrested as he is out soon, so it seems to be up to us AGAIN!)

Any help would be greatfully appreciated

IIRC and I stand to be corrected, if there is a large discrepancy between 1st and 2nd RO write ups then the 3rd RO gets involved, that and for an "exceptional". There is no "Spec Rec" anymore.

Have a look in JSP757 Chap 2 Annex E para 05 (2E-05) details that if there is a fundamental disagreement between 1RO and 2RO then a 3RO should be used. Its a tricky one and hopefully the Appraisals clk should raise this issue, if you aware that there is disagreement then request that a 3RO is raised. Last resort would be redress.

But it will take the 1st RO to stand up! and when you think who their 1st RO is you don't get many who are bothered anymore.

Unfortunately a 2nd RO can nail you without having "a fundamental disagreement" with the 1st RO. All it takes is a few comments here and there in the text and you are done for. Unless you can prove that something they have said is factually incorrect you have no recourse to redress just because you dont like what they have said. If they do disagree though, a 3rd RO is required, and this would be picked up by the software (if recommendations have changed) or by the clerk (if less obvious.

point of order - For Chf Tech and Below - you only get a third Ro based on your 2 ranks up rec, which needs to be high or excp to qualify you for the extra narrative. Excp for 1 rank (along with a Dev or Yes for 2 ranks) does not.
