Fair enough, but why bother posting to tell us that? Leave the thread to those of us anoraks who appreciate the end-of-service of our first jet bomber.

Great pics, matzos.

I stood on the dispersal and watched him leave - fan-bloody-tastic departure.....

Got to Kabul 2 weeks before you guys left... Got some nice shots too, will try and dig them out and upload

Last time I went on Det with the PRU they locked in me in the nose cone of a PR9.:PDT_Xtremez_31:

Liney tw@ts!

Was more fun watching them at Marham than the Tonkas. The Canberra takes off more steeply! Was also on the peri track when one took the rag, 2002 or 03 I think. I had to cycle the whole damn way back round camp Via 2Sqn to get to 13 as the Feds wouldn't let me past after overtaking me as I cycled down!

39 is moving to just down the street from me, I've got a thingy in on JPA to try and get on it when it arrives. Nice piccies.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

I've heard that after scrapping them, we are now renting them back from a private company. Any truth in that?

You will never see the Canberra PR9 back in RAF service. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

XH131 delivered to Kemble 31/07/2006
XH134 delivered to Kemble 31/07/2006, now G-OMHD
XH135 delivered to Kemble 31/07/2006
XH168 damaged 08/09/2003, broken up for spares 2005 at Marham
XH169 - apparently still at Marham

It seems that 39 Sqn will reform with Reaper UAV's

Here's 3 more shots from that det.

She's had a fantastic paint job, and was lowered onto it's concrete mounts about a month ago.

Fantatstic peice of kit, seeing the last of the canberras flying out when 39(PRU) disbanded was a sight to behold.

39 gone but still remembered

39 gone but still remembered

The jets may have left last year, but all you ex 39'ers will be pleased to know that your Sqn crest is still on the RUBB hangar door.
