To be fair to the man Rafael Benitez often uses Gerrard on the right when he plays a midfield 4, so that excuse holds no water. Lampard relies on bursting into the box, or just outside, enabling him to score with regularity at Chelsea. Unfortunately the ball is not in the these areas long enough for Lampard (and Gerrard for that matter) to exploit.
Also, Andy Johnson is yet another in a long line of English strikers who are fairly prolific at club level but are found out on the international stage. He's too lightweight and seems incapable of holding up play for the midfielders. (A supposed England threat in the absence of a genuine goalscorer).
Not convinced with Lennon, yet.
Definitely not on the left. He had one attempt at a cross with his swinger which sailed over the bar, then after that he kept cutting back onto his right foot and delivering a pile of $hite. Not good enough. Another one who plays with his head down - how the fuuck does he know what's going on if his eyes are glued to the fuuckin' ball. Get your head up, have a look around, spot the movement and deliver a quality pass/cross. Simple!
The only positive that I took from the game was that Owen Hargreaves had a good return to international football after his lay-off.
