Right... a while back someone suggested that he and I walk from Oakham Castle in Rutland to Lincoln Castle (in Lincoln...) with our Scouts... (ok ok - Dib dib dib - got that over with... :) ) And when we got our sh1t together - we decided that we should get ourselves sponsored for a good cause - and Combat Stress won! Over the weekend of 24th - 26th May (what a way to spend a bank holiday...) Myself, my oppo and a group of Scouts will be doing the 50 miles between Oakham and Lincoln hoping to raise as much dosh for Combat Stress as possible - no targets have been set - just as much as we can scrape together for a very worthy cause. We're both Ex-RAF - nearly 50 years service between us, so this is one way of us giving something back.

If you'd like to support us - can you please go to http://www.justgiving.com/rutlandhike and make your donations.

Cheers guys

£177 pledged on sponsor forms from my work (b*ggers are coughing up in 50p pieces too! :( and £19.50 on Just giving - come on guys - dig deep please...

Sponsored - satis.

I will try to meet you at Lincoln Castle with an ice cold beer for when you've finished!

you sir are a scholar and a gentleman! - hopefully 13.00ish at the castle on the monday afternoon! :) We'll be the ones wearing the slightly grubby and anti-social Combat Stress t-shirts! :)

Another quick update £267 pledged in 50p pieces from the bit of my office I managed to fleece (ahem... Ask for donations..) today and £64.50 on the web - I've still got about 3/4 of the office to cajole and threaten yet too!

Thanks peeps - much appreciated! It will make all my blisters worthwhile!

Well - did a practice 10 miler yesterday - FAR too hot! Carrying 35 - 40lb of kit (like an idiot - but thats a personal challenge...) - I could have wrung my t-shirt out - Scouts did really well though! Another update on pledges - looks like we've exceeded £600 now - and I forgot my damned sponsor sheet this morning so the b*ggers here at work have a days reprieve!

Silly question - will the Goats' charities committee count this towards the "E-Goat" contributions???

Just a quick update. The total of donations, pledges on the sponsor sheet and donations on www.justgiving.com/rutlandhike amount to a staggering £1425.50!

I’m still waiting to hear news from the other guys who are doing their bit with sponsor sheets at St Georges Barracks near Oakham, BAe Systems in Fife, and at RAF Wyton, but it’s beginning to look as if the total may exceed £2000! And I am astounded at the response and really do not know how to say thank you enough for your generosity!

The walk begins at 10am on Saturday – and I’ve been training by slobbing out in front of the telly – carbohydrate loading on Guinness and lager! J

We hope to arrive in Lincoln – at the Castle entrance at around 13:00 on Monday afternoon (give or take an hour…) So if anyone is around – please meet us there with some VERY cold beer!

If you haven’t visited the site yet – take a look at www.combatstress.org.uk and see why were doing this.

Again – many thanks – and wish me luck!

Well - the weather was sh1te! :) - but as of 13:10 this afternoon when we ploughed our way the top of the hill in Lincoln to the castle gates - Combat Stress should be in the region of £1500 better off to those of you who have donated - many thanks - TBJ - if you did make it up there with a cold'un, we did hang around - :)

I reckon a flannel and some swarfega would do a better job!:PDT_Xtremez_15: but I will see what I can do!!!

so far!

so far!

Donations to date: £ 841.50 - thats what's been collected! :)

So far - more to come! (when I get a chance to haul my sorry a44 round the office to collect!)
