Arsenal have seen an incredible 71 red cards under the reign of Arsene Wenger, thats about 6 or 7 per season consistently over a period of 11 years.
The question is, why? His teams are known for playing attractive football, what is it about his teams or players that results in so many reds?

I have no idea why a side who play so well pick up so many cards but then again neither has Arsene as he is always magically looking the other way much like that taggert look-a-like at the scummers.

I'd like to think that many of the red cards were due to the inherent desire to win (Adams, Dixon, Winterburn) and I think that has been the case with many of them. Some were quite clearly a genuine dislike for Scumchester (Viera/Keown particularly) and many have been sheer stupidity and petulance (Grimandi, Wright). Cygan & Senderos have been sent off because they are sh!te and others have been very harsh and undeserved but I suppose all teams have their fair share of these.

I don't think for a minute that Wenger is sending out his team to kick lumps out of the opposition, I genuinely think that in most cases, the team don't like losing and lose their heads sometimes. I'd rather they were bad losers than got used to losing a lot!
