Born somewhat out of frustration for the way the navy do things and a reluctance to sign a contract with an organization that can't organize. I've suspended my application to join the Marines and in its place stepped into the mighty shadow of the regiment. They seem a good bunch, know what they're for, trained well and hard to be the best at what they do. The more research I did into RM the more I feared my extensive training in amphibious assault would be useless in a landlocked dusty theatre. Im already excited and motivated by the way the RAF recruitment process works, it is just clear and honest. No waiting lists to speak of either!

Potential Gunner (hopefully)

You could be a Royal Marine or Guard an airfield, with no offence to the gunners meant (they have an important role and i have appreciated their stopping me from being rocketed on a number of occasions) - but if i were a young thrusting potential infanteer i think my aspiration would be with the RM, then the Paras then the Reg. Just my opinion.

My son has just completed baby Rock Training, the pass rate was just over 50%. He has a 10% chance of getting pre-para once his Field Gunners course is complete. The Regiment is much maligned by those who dont have a clue what they do, and just how well they do it - in particular members of the British Army. Ignore them, train hard and good luck.
