Hi all,

A4 G1 Z1 ?

Would it be possible for 'someone in the know' to post a breakdown of the medical grading criteria?

Thank you in anticipation.

df

Basically this is the fully fit MES for ground trades.

The A G Z are different factors relating to your employability I can break the down if you need it.

Yes please do, I always wondered.

my take

my take

The way I understand it is:-
A - for flying, hence A1 flyboy, A4 = all groundtrades
G - medical limitations, ie G1 fully fit, G2 has history, G3 got current medical problems, G4 etc, etc
Z - geographic location, ie Z1 go anywhere do anything, all the way to, Z5 please hold my hand I wish to go to the toilet

No doubt the medical professionals will clarify if I am wrong

LOL....I was A4, G4, Z5 when i was waiting for and the 6 months after my gall bladder op.........after the op all i wanted to do was go to the toilet but i fecking couldn't !!!!

Back to A4, G1, Z1 now...although it don't matter to the RAF now !!

Crack on................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Thanks for taking the time to reply, people. I posted the same question at the link below; a kind person (RAF, obviously!!) has posted a complete breakdown.

Don't forget, with every downgrading lower than G2 comes limitations (lower actually means numbers higher than. ie the higher the number = the lower the employment standard). Its these limitations that can force the A, G and/or Z factors. For example, anyone who is suffering with a depressive illness/psychological disturbance would usually be given the limitation of 'Unfit handling live arms'. This precludes them from doing stuff like weapon trg and guard duty etc (for obvious reasons!). Automatically they are downgraded to at least:

A4 (assuming they were groundcrew)
G3 (limitation is placed on their ability to carry out their full duties as a Service person)
Z5 (keeps them in the UK).

It horses for courses though and everyone is supposed to be different. If anyone is ever graded G5 'Unfit Service' it means that the fat lady has sung and it's all over.

You can also be given a medical marker, which is not a downgrading but carries certain conditions concerning your Z category - such as being deployable all over but only to areas with established medical facilities such as basrah and the stan, but not to entry op locations.

The wife

My wife was recently made P8 on the old pulhheems and went straight to G5 and out the door, no messing.

Was what we were expecting but the speed was surprising.

I'm currently awaiting my return to A4 G2 Z1, should happen on Tuesday. The G2 was for a medical condition I had about 5/6 years ago which the RAF want to make sure they have a note of incase it came back.

I was recently downgraded to A4 G3 Z4 for being allergic to nuts. Despite the Air Force always knowing about my allergy since I joined, they only recently downgraded me. As a result I have not been signed on to 22yrs and am out in less than 2 years. My advice is beware the system!! They can manipulate it to however they want as and when it suits them. The fact that I have been allowed to serve for the past 7 years with the wrong MES and been deployed is shocking! It seems rather a coincidence that our trade is 133% manned!!!

If any one out there knows of any one else in the service with a nut allergy please get in touch and chat.
