Evening all,

I've got a question but the whole situation is a bit embarassing so I'm not quite sure how to approach it. Its a kinda PSF question so I thought it was best placed in here for any help.

About five months ago, my bank card was cloned and the buggers managed to make off with just over £2000 from my account. Up until now, I've managed to keep my head above the water but now christmas has come and a few other bits, I've found myself a bit short. The bank have still not refunded all the money as they say it is an on-going investigation although they have refunded about £400.

So I suppose the question is, can I get a pay advance from the RAF and pay it back over the next two months? As I say, I'm quite embarassed and so don't really want anyone knowing.

Ta for any advice.

I'm not a shiney but had a similar situation with one of the lads who work for me and he got an advance of pay after speaking to the chf clk (who will keep it confidential).

I agree with RTW - Approach your Chf Clk in the first instance. If he/she has got any heart at all they will help you out. Whilst it is not really the business of the Service to get involved in the financial affairs of any of us, if it was me I would arrange an advance for you. Hope it all gets sorted for you soon, and you have a great Christmas.

RTW is right, you should speak to your Chf Clk asap. It is not, strictly speaking, a RAF problem and your Chf Clk may take that view and tell you to speak to your bank again. On the other hand, he does have the authority to grant an advance of pay on welfare grounds so, as the saying goes, if you don't ask you don't get.

Good luck.

Advance Of Pay

I am not a shiny, but I have recently dealt with this type of thing for others.

It is poss if you are in real hardship eg. Can’t feed your family.

It’s in the JSP but its A BIT VAGUE. :S

Maybe try your bank again, remind them that your a good regular earner and you may take your business elsewhere

Thanks for the replies. wasn't expecting as many so soon.

I'll speak to the Chf Clk on Monday. I'm quite embarassed, don't really want anyone at work finding out.

Thanks again.

Off Topic You most likely got so many replies that quick as there's loads of blokes trying to find something to do whilst the missus watches that load of b0llox the X factor. :PDT_Xtremez_09:

Dont be embarassed it was hardly your fault! It was the thieving scumbags that cloned your card and in this day and age it could happen to any of us!!!

It happened to me a couple of months ago. Barstewards didn't even clone my card - they took my details off a website which wasn't as secure as it made out. Luckily for me, my bank picked up on it the first time they tried to use my details so I didn't lose any money, I just had the inconvenience of getting my card cancelled and having to wait for a new one.

As a Chf Clk I see this from 2 angles:

1. Sorry you were cloned but it is a private life matter. It happened 5 months ago, you know when Christmas is and you have had plently of time to budget for it. If it was such a concern why did you not ask me for an advance 5 months ago when I would have been more inclined to sympathy?
or

2. Sod it, it's Christmas and I wont be such a miserable git, have the cash.

Did you get the dosh?

KG, glad to see that you surrvived your OOA (...!) without gaining unwanted jewellry and that the sun hasn't addled your brain.

Welcome back, but we'll still duff you on Sat (I hope - please). Heh, what about JC then?
