Picture this scenario;
Stacker gets a short notice deployment order to a sunny dusty ****e hole for a six month deployment in a NATO post. Stacker spends 7 weeks pre-deployment training (incl 4 weeks NATO OP's procedures) then deploys. Stacker arrives in theatre, along with an Army logistics officer to fill one post (ie two of us for one job) RAF stacker now declared as STR by the branch he supposedly works for. Stacker spends 4 weeks doing odd jobs around HQ whilst decision is made what to do with him. Week 5 arrives, stacker re-assigned to (without going into details) what effectively is an ATC job. Stacker now has to spent the next 5 months in an alien trade, being taught from scratch in airspace ops. By the time stacker has PODL etc, stacker would have been away from his home unit and out of trade for 10 months .
Stacker has broached the subject with several agencies but to date has drawn a blank with no valid advice.
Anyone got any ideas for this lost out-of-position soul? Or better still can give A1 Ops a nudge or tip-off.........name supplied on request...
BTW, this stacker doesn't mind doing his 4 months wherever, but six months is a hard pill to swallow when doing a made up job!!!!
