Picture this scenario;
Stacker gets a short notice deployment order to a sunny dusty ****e hole for a six month deployment in a NATO post. Stacker spends 7 weeks pre-deployment training (incl 4 weeks NATO OP's procedures) then deploys. Stacker arrives in theatre, along with an Army logistics officer to fill one post (ie two of us for one job) RAF stacker now declared as STR by the branch he supposedly works for. Stacker spends 4 weeks doing odd jobs around HQ whilst decision is made what to do with him. Week 5 arrives, stacker re-assigned to (without going into details) what effectively is an ATC job. Stacker now has to spent the next 5 months in an alien trade, being taught from scratch in airspace ops. By the time stacker has PODL etc, stacker would have been away from his home unit and out of trade for 10 months .
Stacker has broached the subject with several agencies but to date has drawn a blank with no valid advice.
Anyone got any ideas for this lost out-of-position soul? Or better still can give A1 Ops a nudge or tip-off.........name supplied on request...
BTW, this stacker doesn't mind doing his 4 months wherever, but six months is a hard pill to swallow when doing a made up job!!!!

Contact A1Ops.

The RAF has a duty of care over you, if you were not sent out as 'non-trade specific duties' to the ATC pic number then you are surplus to requirements in theatre and as such the MoD could be found negligent in its duty if you are injured whilst twiddling your thumbs.

It'd also be worth contacting your Sqn WO back in the UK as the trade is under-manned at the moment which probably means your unit is gapping your post whilst you are getting a sun tan. No WO worth his/her salt is going to stand for his personnel being seconded into a gash non-trade post whilst he/she is running on short manning.

Is it "Bishop to Pawn!"

Yo Bish,
I take it its not going too well then! If you need anything sorting from back at the home base, then PM me.
Might well be worth speaking to the WO, again, let me know if you want me to have a word.

Take it as easy as you can out there dude, keep your head down.

Unfortunately not in a position to contact A1Ops direct due to my locality (unless someone has a civvy number and i can use my paradign card!) and the WO i need to brief is away for a while for the next ?? weeks......

So the WO has already looked into this has he?

Speak to the trade desk direct.

As I said we at the noisy place are gapping all over the shop at the moment to the extreme that a Cpl who is still wet behind the ears is being lined up for A/Sgt. I don't believe the trade desk would be too happy to know that out trade is providing manpower for another trades post.

Good luck fella and PM me if you want me to snoop around for you.

Just noticed you are civvy number capable only. I'll see if I can find out the civvy number for our desk tomorrow.
