Have been offered an old F reg MR2 in white pretty good nick 132000 miles and nowt wrong with it (as I can see) for about £1000. I quite fancy the idea of a little sporty motor, not really bothered what or really bothered about image just a fun car to whizz around in. Obviously this is a strict 2 Seater so no room for the kids and still not sure, so over to the goat.

Is it a good price if not what should I offer?

Any suggestions on something else?

I'm not up to speed on sports cars, but an F reg with that mileage, I think I'd start at around £500 and not go above 7.
Good luck.

Seems a bit pricey to me, I just had a quick look at Autotrader on line, quite a few cheaper on there, or even newer one’s for less money.
As for the car you have been offered, depends on the condition, history, MoT etc but I would imagine between £500-£650 is more realistic.

Best thing to do with regards to price is have a look in Parkers guide, it will give you a better idea of just what sort of price you should be looking at.

Will the drivers seat go back far enough to get your "natural padding" in the gap between the seat and steering wheel.

for that money, go and get yourself an old MX5. As it's starting to get a lot colder and more wintery, convertible prices plummet. Plus it'll give you more fun, more reliability and on those lovely winter sunny days you can take the hood down and go for a spin with your wooly jumper and scarf on. Plus, when the summer comes back around you can enjoy that one week of good weather we have here in blighty.

who gives a crap if people think you're driving a "hairdressers" car, eff em. you're having fun and they're not.

get an MX5 for a grand, plenty of em on Autotrader.

If you really want the car, surf the net and get some prices of similar age and model to bargain down the price, taking condition and service history into account. Not a bad little car and personally I prefer the older moder as it had more distinctive lines. Good luck. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

For the money your going to splash out which one of these MR2's are you likely to end up with.??

Dont listen to any of the hairdresser rubbish, i've had a MK2 for 5 years and although i'm about to get rid, it's been the best car i've ever had. The Japanese know how to make their cars, it just goes forever. Be prepared to pay more for anything that does (infrequently) go wrong though - and dont mess around with the headlight mechanism, they cost a fortune!

I once left it off the road in gear with the battery disconnected for 6 months, re-connected it and started first time, and drove off.

Just for info sake, this first quarter of 2009 that the cost of a used car actually appreciated! this is down to fleet and rental car agencies hanging on to their cars when they usually rid, thus starving the market of used vehicles.

In some places, simply because of supply and demand, (new car production being scaled back) the price of sightly used cars exceeded those of comparable new ones.
