Does anyone know if MHS/DE will put additional aerial points in bedrooms 2 and 3? Currently have points in lounge and main bedroom but little 'uns require TV's now (ahh the peace and quiet...) and was wondering if they do this or its just down to the occupant?

I know I could do it myself or even run one from the MBR but hey just wondered if anyone knows...

cheers ears

Yes they will and also if you need them too they will mount your Plasma's to the wall and they will obviously hoover around after themselves and also cook the tea for the kids. They will also fit you a new power socket if you need them to and will put all the cables in the wall and re-decorate.

I also heard if you want a hot tub they will make it a priority and be round within 24 hours......

Now seriously I don't know what colour the grass is in your world, but I feel lucky if my hovel has a roof that doesn't leak!

Sorry if I went off on one there; but had a lad at work try to book out the upstairs windows because they were dirty outside!

What I would say is anything you do make a decent job and they wont bill you when you leave.

I feel cheated out of the time I read your useless post. stfu
Anyway, I only asked a question - I sympathise if you live in a hovel but I don't and I merely wondered if they would or not and as I say I am willing to do it - if you don't ask....

Although the last bit of your post is amazing, I never thought about doing a decent job......stfustfu

Ha, this thread just cheered me up BIG TIME!! Been having a sh1tty day so far, but this made me smile.

MHS will not do it, I called them once because the phone socket that was already installed in the wall upstairs wouldn't work. They said it's BTs responsibility, BT said it was the landlords responsibility.... feck it all, I did it myself bought the stuff from b&q for less than a fiver and did a better job than either of the others would have done.

MHS won't do it under their contract but what they do is complete a form and send it to DE and give you a reference number. DE make the decision within 50 days and I understand it depends on how much dosh is in the pot.....funny old thing.

Sorry

I will try and make this reply a bit shorter then, I am sorry but once I started typing I got carried away before.

I asked about my ONLY Ae socket (I had no reception) when i moved in and got told it was not worth them doing anything about the Ae as it was in a poor reception area and would need (in his own technical way) " ...a booster thingy or one of those expensive aerials.... besides that is what your disturbance allowance is for"

Again I have moved into a house with wires and sockets all over the house, I think they had BT/ cable/ Sky / NTL and extensions all over the place paired off each provider with cable clips along nearly all the skirting. When I asked about that I got told the previous owner had been charged for the damage caused!

I just find it frustrating that yes some people may get something like this done yet a guy i knew had to go a week without any gas heating while it went through emergency budget approval.

MHS are the bane of my life. I started a thread many moons ago, asking about a digital aerial, as I had no reception whatsoever. The MHS chap attended, stuck his head in my loft and said that I needed an aerial upgrade and to call again to see if they would install one. Which I did and it was rejected! So off I pops to buy me a new aerial. Spent £70 shimmied up into my loft and fitted it (correctly I might add). To no avail. The signal is till pants leading me to believe that the cables to the sockets are pants.

What is even more annoying is DE released a publication not so long ago stating that it is their responsibility to ensure everone has a decnt TV signal!

Suerly when they charge people for damage, that charge should be used to rectify the damage. Otherwise where does that money go. Into the DE slush fund????

In my previous house I had very poor reception and even had a problem with Sky because of the line of sight so MHS supplied and fitted a new digital aerial and booster and even provided me with a digibox.

I note from their documentation:

...Poor reception through standard analogue aerials will be investigated and resolved with approval by DE. Poor reception through failure of occupants’ equipment compatibility is the responsibility of the occupant to resolve...

However, unless aerials have been previously installed by MHS then they are not responsible. Although on move in it states: The Living Room and MBR will have a working TV aerial point - maybe room for manoeuvre here?

My advice would be to contact MHS in the first instance and they will probably fob you off to DE....keep pushing and you will be rewarded (hopefully) as I was.

Of course to sort the problem yourself involves either doing it yourself or paying someone to do it for you - whichever you choose ensure you get DE authority before you do or it could become sticky when you move out and you find the DE coffers increased yet again - and where does that money go??????

Cheers

Mrs Fold and I just bought all the kit and now have TV in all rooms upstairs and it was pretty inexpensive. If you are not sure there are plenty of companies that will fit extra aerial points it may cost a few hundred quid but in theory it will be of a good standad and 'be classed as an improvement' so wont be billed for. If you do it yourself with just loads of cables then you will probably have to pull it all up before you move.

As to MHS doing it very unlikely

To be honest I just disregarded it and went and got sky installed. They blamed the fact that I had a digital TV, but even with digital TVs you can switch it to receive just analogue channels and even that was garbage. I've noticed that the houses surrounding me have had their aerials removed from the loft and have been replaced at high level on the roof, so DE are aware there is a problem.

I'll be posted soon (hopefully). I just think it is unfair. What if the next occupant has other financial commitments and cannot afford sky.

As part of an upgrade many moons ago living room and main bedroom were indeed to be fitted with aerial points......
unless you moved to an area where the DHE blew the budget on something else and never carried out the upgrade then refused to do subsequent upgrade as it was not in the present/future budget.

Thank fek I now live in my own house where I can put up as many aerials and telephone points as I like in the full knowledge they will work.

For those in MQ I feel your pain after my previous 17 years of occupancy.

As for TV points in the kids bedrooms why stop there how about one for the bog, bathroom and kitchen after all nothing beats brainwashing for the masses does it.
Doesn't anyone read anymore?
