Evening guys
went for my "informal chat" with afco tonight. And explained about my slightly ropey medical history (ie anxiety) and the fact i'd been off meds since dec last year. The lady basically said that she thinks i'd be rejected on this basis, but has given me the address to write to for occupational health. This is so i can enquire whether it's worth sticking an application in. Has any one else had experiance of this? Personally i think i'll be tinkling against the wind but if i dont ask i'll never know.

The AP1269A which is our bible for all things clinical states:

Recruit. Candidates giving a history of a specific anxiety disorder in the past year are unfit for Service in the RAF (S8). If longer than a year ago, the candidate is to be referred to a military consultant psychiatrist for assessment of fitness to serve.

However; it is always worth writing in as an enquirer just in case. policy does change over time. Good luck!

Thank you ninja, i didn't know the guidlines/regulations. But will prepare a letter and see what comes of it. Any info like this is very useful.
