Can anyone guess why they refused to increase the X factor and deferred it . The Board recommened an increase but yet again the government refused it by a ****ty excuse of its not within the budget. Accomodation goes up and food goes down, simply because its all pay as you dine.

This government has done more damage than Al Quieda has in 12 years to the forces.

Makes you wonder whats the point of having a board in the first place, if their observations and recommendations just get shunned?

Accomodation

Accomodation

'We remain open to reviewing our methodology once there is a new grading system which more accurately reflects the improvements that have been made to the condition of Service accommodation. We recognise that for those currently in good ‘standard for condition’ property which are deemed low ‘grade for charge’ the consequence of such a review is likely to be a significant future increase in rental charges, which will be larger because of our decision not to recommend an across-the-board increase this year.'
Is this a fore taste of things to come?

Just the 1.56% pay cut for me then. Bonus! :PDT_Xtremez_40:

Off TopicPay cut?? does you mean your wages went up by less £'s than you hoped or that you actually now take home less £'s this month than last month. If you want 5% and get 3% for some it could be viewed as a miserly 3% rise for others the view is it's a 2% cut. When in reality it's not been cut at all it's simply that wages have risen by less than the % you wanted. If my wage is reduced, actually cut I would surely take home less next month than I did this.......if however it remained the same or went up even a teeny weeny bit that's can't be a cut, however it can be a rise I dislike and is an amount smaller than my expectations.Off Topic

I'm sure our resident Fireman Sam can ably defend himself, but I am sure he is relating his % payrise against the % of inflation. 1% payrise against 2.5% inflation = 1.5% less cash.

You need to keep up better than that, for Sam his 1% rise is offset by his increased contribution to pension which wipes it out.

Don't be miserable

Indeed Sir, you are correct. In 2011 I was paying 11% into my "gold plated" pension, this year I'm paying 13.56% and that increases to 14.2% next year. It's still unclear as to if we'll get this 1%, and what we'd have to give up to attain it.

How is it an independent pay review board if they get sacked for not saying what the govt wants them to say?

I'd think the pay review board didn't cave and just write what the Govt wanted, instead choosing to publish their actual findings / report shows that they are independent.

That fact that the political masters didn't accept the recommendations , won't implement them, and fired the people that wrote it for not being a bunch of patsys , tells you more about the Govt than the pay review board.

The recommendations themselves took austerity into account - the decision to limit the size of any increase is political.

That said - even in the private sector all is not rosey, I had a 1 and a quarter % pay pot to distribute this year - which I concentrated on newly promoted people still at the lower end of the pay scales, and my higher performers - so about half the people working for me had no pay rise for the third year in a row - and the usual increase in benefit costs to absorb..

So, let me get this right.....

  • millions of quid on foreign aid - none for British troops
  • thousands killed in NHS - no sackings
  • terrorists at large in UK - SAS heroes imprisoned
  • heads of independent bodies - sacked for disagreeing with govt
  • bonuses paid in govt for failure - benefits cut for millions
  • MPs pay rises unchecked - MPs continue to be arrested for fraud
  • injured soldiers not paid compensation for injuries - MPs allowances rising unchecked

Remember all of this in May 2015.....I certainly will....

And who would you want to vote for to ensure things change? Would any of those statements be any different under the previous lot?
