And who would you want to vote for to ensure things change? Would any of those statements be any different under the previous lot?
Thats th epoint - the last lot are as bad as this lot - we have now over the last 10 years seen the worst that each of the parties has to offer and it just isn't good enough, so I for one will be looking at smaller parties this time.

How can you vote against the current lot without voting for someone else?

By voting for someone else. Even someone unlikely to win the election. Not because you like them, but because you dislike the current lot more.

Another way people have voiced their disapproval is by deliberately spoiling their vote. So they still exercise their right to vote but "not for any of the above".

It's denying the current govt potential votes.

Yes, someone has to win, but hopefully it will be lesser of two evils.

I tried that last time. I won't vote Labour and will never benefit from a tory government so I made the error of voting LibDem, hoping to keep the tories out, knowing how much they despise public service. Voting LIbDem is not a mistake I'll make again.

What would have been your suggestion for the Lib Dems then if they hadn't joined the coalition?

Oooh me sir, me.
How about sticking by what the voters voted for, such as no tuition fees.
If they couldn`t stand up for what we voted for, they could have just not joined the coalition.
That way we`d have got a minority govt, not an impossible task to govern with, you just have to make a convincing argument when you present policy to the house.

Minority Government had no chance of working. All the parties were too far apart and would deliberately undermine each other. By joining up in a coalition two parties have at least managed to get some policies through. Personally I think the tuition fees are a good idea anyway. They're loans that are repaid out of your tax, you'll never see the money anyway.

Thats not the point Joe.
Clegg and the rest stood in front of a camera and promised, including a signed pledge, that the fees wouldn`t come in. One sniff of power and all their scruples/morals/pledges disappeared like a willo the wisp.

Clegg won his seat on the back of students at Sheffield uni carrying him through. How is it possible that he can turn his back on them and what they voted for as soon as the polls closed ?

I know your question was rhetorical, but....the fact that are mostly lying, cheating, thieving, manipulative, underhand, immoral....utter, utter, scumbag wastes of sperm and eggs makes it all possible.

Didn't they recommend a rise in X Factor but the government held off accepting it.

The rumour is 0.000001% rise in X factor, spread over 300 years and probably a few % increase in the cost of SLA and married quarters. The good news is the food charge has decreased, dead handy if you're at a PAYD unit where you don't pay a food charge.

Are you referring to all Sheffield students, or just the Hallam Polytechnic lot?

X factor will rise by 0.5%. It means the lists in the AFPRB report are correct after all.

With the x factor, the exemption from progression pay freezing and the donating of financial fines to military charities, the forces did better in relation to the rest of us.

X Factor to be paid from 1 May, so they managed to squeeze 1/12ths of the recommendation back.
