  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
So the 2019 pay award will be late as well. They won't report back till May/June and the award will follow.

Remember kids, people are our number 1 priority...!

...and you'll all touch your forelock and say thankyou sir/ma'am for another shafting.

If you work in the public sector and are not a nurse, police officer or teacher, then don't expect an above-inflation pay rise.

If you find below-inflation pay rises unacceptable, then you always have the option of finding alternative employment that pays what you believe you are worth.

They have spun a very good story with these pay rises. I think you will see a delay until this small Brexit issue pans out.

Many Nurses get no where near the "inflation busting" rise, they are condensing the levels a there are many in a similar position to our pay 2000 standing time. with inflation at 2.4 my partner will see something like 0.4% rise this year.
Bit of a mix up by the RCN.
Can't talk for the Police but I do know there is lots of talk of cutting numbers and services to pay for it.
Teachers are hit and miss with local heads and schools setting some rates, Colleges and the like are not getting any extra funding.

This is a problem for public sector workers, the market doesn’t decide their rate, a politician (who will be treated differently) does. It’s also hard for a civil servant or local government worker to move to a new employer, they’ll have built up some significant and valuable employment rights, that they will see as an entitlement to be called on.

There’s no stopping these people moving around government employment to improve their lot, however, very few do, they just shuffle from one chair to the next as individuals ahead of them die or retire.

Saying that the, private sector will only pay what you’re worth, if you oversell yourself on entry you’ll soon be discounted or placed in the bargain isle. Get your price right and as long as your pricing mechanism matches your value you’ll do okay, keep improving and you’ll be able to do the same with your salary, if it’s this that motivates you.

If you’re not happy with your take home and can’t see a job elsewhere, that you can do, paying more then you do, then you’ve probably found your level, try to enjoy it.
