Afternoon everyone,

I've been given my provisional start date for Halton of 16th September.

I know i'm looking quite far ahead here, but I was just curious; upon starting 16th Sept, that would mean I should graduate toward the end of November, aslong as all goes well.

My question is, if I finish Halton at the end of November, because i've heard Cosford wouldn't start a new course then; it would be after new year before the course starts, if that's true what would happen between finishing Halton and starting Cosford after New Year?
I've heard there's something like a Training Development Phase or something? If so, what does it entail?

Cheers!

Hi Pal and congrads on your start date.

I started Halton on the 3rd of October 2007 and so graduated on about the 4th of December. I had one week leave then I was at Cosford starting my course, we did one weeks work then off for two weeks over christmas so you could be in Cosford before christmas.

If you start date is not untill after the christmas leave then you may be put on to ADF (Airman Development Flight) and its basically just going over everything you have spent the last few weeks doing plus just some extra bonus general information. It can be useful, you will get more confident in doing stuff like marching and talking to higher ranks.
If you have along wait for your phase 2 training (one of the guys i was with had to wait 4months) you will probably be sent to a station where they may find a use for you.

What trade you going in as? if you want to know anything else just let me know, i will keep an eye on this thread for your questions.

Good Luck and enjoy RTS it can be really good fun.

Thanks mate.

I'm going in as an ICT Specialist.

Do you always get leave after Halton before trade training? That would be handy as my birthday is at the start of December! hehe.
Is there always 2 weeks leave over Christmas as well?

Yeah the ADF must be what i've heard of. A lad I know was joining the RAF police, but he had about 4 months between Halton and his trade training so he worked at the Careers Office during that time!

Cheers.

S.
