There's an Airfield Driving / Track day event on the 14th of Dec, and I was just wondering if anybody's against this type of thing?

I don't mean track days in general, but using working RAF Airfields?

last oneof them i saw at odious, saw a loady launching his nissan over the perimeter fence and into a field..lol
oh no that wasn't a track/airfield day that was after a beer call and a drag race down the runway...lol

At Gatow in Berlin the boxheads used to come from all over the country to race their Porches, Bmw' etc. I think they used to pay a nominal fee but the interest was great and lots of fun watching them trash their 150 thousand mark cars !
Best bit was when on guard duty having a real good gorp under bonnets taking ages, childish but so much fun mein fuhrer !

Always a good laugh to have a go at that kind of thing, I did the one at Brize this year, weather was sh!te though.

Think it's a great idea really, seem to find loads of civvies get involved too. I presume most if not all of the money raised goes to the costs of the day, but always a good way to make some charity dosh too!

I've never done this kind of thing before, but I'll go and take a peek a week sunday, I can't see my wife letting me take our 2.0ltr 307 XSi around the airfield, but we can hope :D

I did the one at Odiham earlier this yr, awesome. The cars were impressive. They got RMA in to do it, they're a pro company who do track days. The Porsche 911 GT3's were maybe a little quicker than your average Pug though!

That was a few years ago!
I was on guard with the said offender (Dinger). What a claim to fame!

I can't wait, I've been speaking to one of the Officers who's running with the event and I might be lucky enough to get a few passenger rides. I did a search on the mighty Google for "RAF Odiham Track Day" and I found someone saying that there was supposed to be a Veryon at the last one, so fingers crossed.

Would anyone be interested if I posted some pictures up on here? or is that a bit too geeky?

A certain east midlands field hosted the Aston Martin owners club track day a few months ago - some very smooth looking pen1s extensions on show!

we've had a few here at marham which i've worked (marshalling) there great fun and we've had all sorts turn up from pug's to ferrari's.
the good thing about volunteering your time to help out is lots of passenger rides (ive been out in everything from caterhams to a ferrari 599 gtb)
