Can anyone tell me what the proper name is for the flashing yellow lights and ground mounted 'horizontal traffic lights' for want of a better phrase which are sometimes found at the entrance to taxi ways? I have heard them called Runway Guard Lights but can never recall seeing them at runways.

If I get the proper name I can get googling as "flashy yellow lighty thingys on the taxi way or sometimes red and greeny ones on the runway" isn't producing much.

If anyone has a manufacturer even better!

Thanks in Advance

Jimps

The flashing amber lights are definitely called runway guard lights (check Google Images).

Can't find anything on the traffic lights though. Maybe someone from ATC can help?

FOMz, are you sure that you weren't aroused by someone talking about airfield lighting, pitched a small tent in your crimpolene slacks and subconsciously typed wig-wam instead ?

If I remember, I shall have a look in the Docs at work, there should be a reference made to them somewhere. Not promising anything though, I'm rubbish at 'Open book' questions. :PDT_Xtremez_14:
