Been looking at aptitude questions and have got the how2become online tests..also have books but am struggling on the maths.

Although I have a C in maths the time goes so quick and i don't have enough time to finish all the question..also struggling with working out certain questions...so what sort of mark are they looking for...

Can't be that high surely as they ask for G and above in English and Maths...

Thanks
Craig

Would apprecitate someone getting back to me with some sort of knowledge of how there airman/airwomen aptitude test went. Btw the Role I have gone for is Firefighter with second choice being police...followed by driver.

If you are struggling with maths, look at KS 2-4 as most of the maths questions in the Airmen's Selection Test (AST) are pitched at that level. Don't worry too much about competing each test within the AST - few people do - however you should bear in mind that the more questions you answer successfully, the greater your test score will be which in turn, will increase the amount of trades you will be eligible for. The AFCO should give you a book of example tests for you to practice prior to the AST.

Good luck.

Passed mine earlier this year, to be completely honest I didn't do any work preceeding mine, I had 2 A's in GCSE (& iGCSE) Maths, so probably had a bit of a head start, although it's mainly basic stuff.

Ask your AFCO for practice tests, they're very similar with the ecxpeption being, you do the actual one's on a computer. Best thing you can do is practice them, the maths itself isn't too bad.

Hardest part is getting through them all in decent time.

If it's anything like mine, there will be a lot of timings in there, train arrivals and such.

One thing to remember is that the RAF are looking for correct answers rather than any old answer. Make sure you work through the questions clearly and precisely. I would rather answer 40% correctly leaving 60%, than rushing to answer 100% and only scoring 20%. That doesn't mean work through the questions at a slow pace mind you. The RAF are looking to see how you work under pressure. There are many websites that you can practise your aptitude so get cracking. You can do it.

Remember all this hard work could be leading you to serve anywhere in the world, be it frontline or not, and again the RAF will be asking you to be clear and precise in your work.

Best of luck.
