Flying down to london for work in a week or so. We used to be able to use the BA lounges. Can we still do this?

You never get if you don't ask so so go and ask and if they say no, ask them to check with the duty manager. I doubt it will work though as BA have stopped anything that costs extra extra, they now only sell sandwiches on short haul.

Most lounges will let you in a for a fee, don't know if the DDS still do a deal, in two hours it can be amazing how much gin you can squeeze in.

DDS was 20% off (I think, in No1 Lounge at Gatwick) now seems to be £5 off on DDS. !0% off at Rewardsforforces through holiday extras.... we got 3 hours for around £22

Certainly nowadays, airline lounges are generally for higher level frequent flyers and those flying in club/first. However, all of the major airports have lounges that can be accessed by the hoi polloi for a fee (http://www.heathrow.com/airport-guide/terminal-facilities-and-services/lounges/http://www.gatwickairport.com/at-the-airport/passenger-services/airport-lounges/ as examples). They can be worth it sometimes too.

At Miami a year or 2 ago, there's was a free lounge set aside for Mil Pers - just show your MOD90 which got you hot drinks, snacks, showers and wifi. Knowing how well the US treats their troops, there's probably similar lounges at other airports. No booze available but it was a quiet place to sit for a few hours waiting for a connection.

If it helps, as someone who used to fly a lot when contracting.

RBS, NatWest, Barclays all offer bank accounts that include airport lounge access - the RBS/Natwest one being for unlimited visits

For most of last year I was commuting to London / Bristol on a Monday morning, back to Edinburgh Tuesday evening, down again Thurs morning and back Fri evening - so was in the Lounges up to 4 times a week, all for 'free'.

(the same add on's to my bank account also paid for the replacement of 3 broken cell phones / ipads, a car breakdown recovery service and covered a trip to hospital in Turkey - they must have lost a fortune on the something like £15 quid a month it costs me!)
