Happy birthday to Akky!

Britain's key base in Cyprus, RAF Akrotiri, turns 60 this year, and Forces TV reporter Simon Newton has been looking at its history.

The base was first built in the mid-1950s to relieve pressure on the main Air Force station on the island, RAF Nicosia, which is now used by the UN's Peacekeeping Force on the island.

Anyone who has or indeed is staying in those transit blocks are now putting two and two together and realising the date they were last given a lick of paint.....

Good report by BFBS and definitely brought back some memories. Such as the expats who "go to church" on a Sunday.

Bolleaux.

They "go to church" so thay can get all of the Sunday papers cheap and before most of AKI wakes up!

Happy Birthday AKI, thanks for the memories, kokinelli, sours, Keo, mozzie bites and sunburn! :PDT_Xtremez_30:
