Anglo/Irish co-operation?

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
With Ireland looking to secure its airspace, does this signal a new possibility of Anglo/Irish defence co-operation? Training in the UK as an example?

I'll eat my hat if they but FJs. Simply not going to happen.

They will possibly buy some of the Hawk T1s in storage, add some shooty bang things and paint them green.

After all anything going into Ireland has got to get past the RN & RAF first.

DS, as you are more in tune with these matters than most, if we have a CTA for freedom of movement between the ROI and the UK, then how does that affect UK military air traffic? (Notwithstanding and excluding the NI military Air traffic and presence)

Cant see them affording FJ when total military spend is about £1b per year.

You can see what I'm getting then. If ROIreland can't afford FJ but needs FJ intercept capability, then who will provide this? The UK as per the CTA, or the EU with the ROI being a member state?

Not a hope in hell, especially as they have a Green party going into a shared government.

I'm not sure, not my area, but I am fairly familiar with the politics there so I can say it won't happen.

Put a bit of left field here, could not their O'Irish cousins across the pond have a American Base as they do here in England. Or would this breach their agreement with their masters in EU land.
