Hi All,
I've just discovered this site through a link from Forces Pensions Society newsletter (just a hint there that my juniority isn't age-related!) I look forward to some interesting reading and the chance to make some ill-informed but heartfelt comments from time to time.
Service experience? Joined January 1968 as trainee pilot, but, when grounded for reasons of potentially expensive incompetence, joined the ranks of stackers and movers. Had some interesting tours, including six months in Majunga (Madagascar) and detachments to Saudi Arabia and Bermuda.
Retired from the RAF in 1987 and joined the RAFVR, in which I served until my final parting from the service in 2007. That phase of my career included six warm months in Iraq in 2003.
Now retired to sunny Sussex, and wondering why my "gold-plated pension" doesn't buy as much beer as I'd hoped it would!
Best wishes to all.

Welcome...How far did you get before you were chopped at FTS?

Thanks for the welcome, Vim. Got wings at BFTS, then chopped on Varsities quite near the beginning of the advanced course. The Varsity was a gentleman's aeroplane. S'pose I wasn't enough of a gentleman! Ah well ....

Ah, but. You've outlived the Varsity.
