So my overseas tour ends in October and was wondering if any of you goaters out there know of any interesting/good jobs???
I'm an Ex TG3 Cpl

Its getting close to the time where I can phone up and start asking manning whats available, so a few things to add to the "dream Sheet" so to speak would be great!

Why not look at the positions register and see whats available around the time you're posted - if there are any positions left in the RAF by then!
 
Have another look at the positions register - it used to show the date the current incumbent was due to leave the RAF (not much use at all) but it has recently changed to show the date the post is due to become vacant.
 
591 at Digby could be worth a look, especially if the Governements cyber terrorism unit takes of as there will be a military role and no doubt 591 will firmly stick their finger in that pie.

Rumour mill is £650mil funding going to GCHQ more so than 591, having said that, a few new positions appeared on the register for 591 recently. (If my memory serves me right)
 
On the positions reg, the date shows either when the post is due to become vacant or when the person filling it is due to leave the RAF. There is a bit of a mixture of dates at the moment - not much help I know.

My WO spoke to manning a while ago with this query.

I am TG4 and am coming 'home' in the near future. I had a fair selection on my preferences i.e areas with multiple units etc. The desk couldn't really find anything so I said I'd consider anywhere. I was given a choice of about 5 slots in the UK for TG4 Cpls.

Because of the SDSR, movements are a bit quieter at the moment; plus with 2 units due to be announced for closure (I have heard Leuchars and Linton) the desk(s) are playing it careful incase they post someone to a unit due for closure.

Don't you just love all the un-certainty, wondering whats coming next, will we still have jobs in the coming months blah blah blah.

591 is generally by interview only... so you should have an interest and knowledge of what they do.

Does being overseas mean that you can contact the desk directly...? I thought that the open door was now wedged in a semi-open position for SNCO and above...? Is my understanding incorrect? Wasn't this why Apollo and Zeus and all those other gods were brought in? Can I fit any more questions into this post...? I'm sure I can....

Spadeadam is not too hot at the moment... loss of Sky, no funbus to Carlisle... thin end of the wedge maybe...?

GSS gets a good report from everyone I know that works on it. One of the things that the trade merger promised (!?) that actually delivered.

See if there's any jobs on Predator... 39 Sqn...? That should be lots of jollies.

Just had one lad go to Cheltenham... and he's loving it. Smoke generated rumour mill is that they will be looking for people in the near future...

No the desk is still shut tight for JNCOs and below! Because my chain of command have all departed (I only work with contractors now ), I have been able to email the desk a couple of times, but this was pre-arranged by my boss.

Being overseas I can indeed contact the desk direct, got told to leave it until 5 months before due date. Predator is a no go as I'm already overseas, I'd be applying for Cyp if I thought there was half a chance!!

GSS is looking my most likely choice at the minute or at least somewhere in lincs.
