What trade are you at the minute mate as TG4 is going the way of a Seaborne Vehicle that is loosing Bouyancy!Spamout

Supply. They are looking for re musters. I applied 4 year ago when I joined up but got told they were down sizing .... 4 years later they are still recruiting internally. How is that a sinking ship ?

Good luck with getting across to AE, speak to the guys at Digby (AE School) for information.

Really, think you'll find its one of the only trades that are actually growing...........or do you mean you haven't been picked up yet so is a sinking ship to yourself.

I refer you to the RAF Manning page, look at manning news and scroll down, it has a full speil on remustering to Aerial Erector.
Good Luck

Giving a £10000 retention to SAC's to try and keep the lads in. Ten grand in the back burner as long as you do 3yrs in return

Do us all a favour then and PVR? Pr1ck.TG4 is GROWING.
Then I have obviously been misinformed by a senior rank within the trade who confirmed that it is shrinking which is the reason the Promotions are drying up, (By approximately a third each year).I will let them know that they are wrong!Spamout

Do you honestly believe TG4 could sustain 100+ SAC to Cpl and 80+ Cpl to Sgt quotas?. Apart from AV's etc no trade
could keep that up. With stations closing, and draw down, there is a natural decrease in numbers required.

It's about time people are promoted on merit (smaller boards will ensure this), far too many have been promoted to
early in their careers.

Moron's at our beloved school tell students they are looking at promotion to Cpl within 4 years.......and i have heard this before you flame me.........they are the joke.

Unfortunately Spammy I don't agree TG4 is a sinking ship. For us Ex TG3s it is however. They need us but don't want us and even at that only in minimal numbers. Not too bothered about myself as I'm of the two banana variety, but I've seen Ex TG3 SAC's ranging from good to brilliant (work unsupervised, train others, paperwork completed...PROPER UNDERSTANDING OF TRADE) been giving a kicking on the SAC - CPL boards in the last few years.

They are disillusioned now one has to say, especially knowing that less experienced TG4 personnel are going to get promoted ahead of them no matter how good they are!!

Time to count the days dear Ex-TG3 friends and prepare for civvy life. Get coursed up and watch from afar as they realise only too late that their is no one to maintain their radars and comms etc until it's too late. Life will go on in TG 4. Just with less experience than before as we head almost down the Army way of doing things. Lack of life experience and knowlegde. Those things that the RAF can't hack in the future will be contracted off.

Ex TG3 Myself mate... DTC145

Pretty much agree with the rest of the post. On Topic for the OP, if he comes in at the ground level with a full 4000 course and has enough time left in the service then it may balance out OK for him.... Hopefully!

Let's face it (something that some of us should have done a while ago) ex TG3's are "overqualified and under utilised", if you were running a company and your man power did not match the demand or the funds available, you would either refocus business or change your structure. The RAF can't refocus so its doing the later. So get out while the goings good (160 days to go at time of writing) and let the new boys have their go.
