I'm off on a long weekend with my girlfriend to New York in April and am looking for ideas for things to do. She wants to go to Broadway and see Lion King so that is one night taken care of but wondering what to do during the days. I've looked at the usual touristy things, Smithsonian's, 5th Avenue etc any goaters got good ideas? Especially for places to eat. I've heard about using your ID to get into Disneyworld but what is it like in New York? Are they quite accommodating??

Arrrrrr a visit to CVS or Walgreens pharmacy will probably be in order for something for the bed bug bites.

Seriously, there's an epidemic of the little blighters in NY!

We went to New York a few years ago and we had a great time. There was a ticket booth in Time Square that sold cheap tickets for the shows. From memory it opened at 3 and sold tickets for shows that night, a bit hit and miss though. We managed to get half price tickets for Miss Saigon, not my cup of tea but the missus enjoyed it. If you can’t get cheap tickets from there you are probably best to pay on the door, if you show your ID card you might get a discount. Have a jolly nice time.

I can highly recommend the 9/11 museum if it is still going. You have to pre book by either phoning or calling to the museum in advance but it is well worth the effort. It's incredibly moving.Other attractions I visited were:The empire state building, skating outside the rockafella building, Tussauds waxworks, Dinner at the hardrock cafe and a visit to Liberty Island. I wish I'd gone to Ellis Island but just didnt have the time.A show is a must. I saw Mary Poppins and it was excellent.Enjoy!

We went to New York a couple of years ago and saw Lion King on Broadway. I wasn't looking forward to it but it turned out to be the best show I've ever seen, it was amazing. I got tickets before we went which was a good job as there was a massive queue of people outside hoping to get their tickets on the night and I don't think there were any available.

We also went to an Ice Hockey game at Madison Sq Garden plus all the touristy things like the Museum of Natural History, Statue of Liberty, hot dog in Central Park, Bloomingdales etc etc.

It's a brilliant place, enjoy!
