Application for further service not sent off

Hi all

My application for further service 9-12 was turned down by my Flt/Cmdr just before Christmas effictivley leaving me with 12 months service. He did not send the form up to manning is he allowed to do that?

From what I remember - he is allowed - but you're allowed to re-submit it again, and again. On the third event he SHOULD pass it up a level or two.

In any event - re-submit it, and see what he does next.

a. You submitted your application in Dec, and your Flt Cdr recommended it, then sat on it until it was too late to be sent off for the recent Further Service Board.

or

b. You submitted your application and he did not recommend you for Further Service.

There's a vast difference to the options you have depending on whether it is a or b.

Has there been a recent board sitting? I was under the impression it was both Apr. and Sept. My paperwork went through for the second time to PSF a few of weeks ago. I'm still yet to see anything about these boards in black and white, are there any details on the intranet yet?

I am not bothered any more about getting signed on as i have pretty much given up on the RAF i spent nearly 18 months getting over a mental health issue so i could continue my life in what used to be the best job in the world but like i said i feel that time i was struggling i should of packed it in then

Sorry you feel like that fella. However, as to your question. The Flt Cdr should have sent the form to PSF. We've had similar situations which, funny old thing, have resulted in Service Complaints.

I'm not sure what to do with regards a service complaint i don't want to make a fuss but i don't want this guy taking the p!$$ with other peoples careers too.

The reason we have a service complaint system is so we can complain. If your Flt Cdr made negative comments (as is his perogative) then so be it. However if he did not forward it to PSF then you have every right to raise the matter. I am aware of a number of times a Flt Cdr has scribed negative comments yet an individual has been offered FS. Complain.
