Army to RAF

Am in the army Royal signals done 12 years

Wanting to move over to the RAF. Where What when how ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

First port of call would be your unit admin. They should point you in the right direction

Looking at ICT Specialist as i do comms now! But as you can guess hear lots of rumours about this trade. Like you go on operations I.E afgan alot prob alot more then other trades???

When does your current engagement end? Are you planning to complete your Army service and then transfer or are you wishing to transfer before the end of your engagement?
Best advice is go the AFCO and find out what they know about transfers and think about what job you want to do. Just because you're a Siggie doesn't mean you have to be an ICT Tech, if you've got the qualifications you could try for aircrew.

I really don't think that it needs three posts saying the same thing :PDT_Xtremez_42:

What trade are you in the siggies? If you can't get any info from your unit admin (which I doubt you will as my experience AGC suck) then get yourself down to the nearest AFCO.

If you are a tech then the trade training will be easy, and there is none of this class 1, class 2 crap either. Do the training and get out and do the job.

About going away, any trade in the RAF can go away alot. It depends where you work. My last post I spend 7 out of 60months away (Ground Radio) and my current post (16months) I have done 7months away in 4 stints. There are a couple of postings in 'our' trade which will get you away atleast 3months in 12 if that is what you are after. But at the end of the day, it's all down to the drafter and where he/she sends you.
