Well, after a couple of years of happy motoring in my Bavarian diesel-powered monster, I decided that I needed more space and as I'm cycling to work each day, could do without the extra service costs for a diesel that barely does 400 miles in a month. Plus it was nudging the 100k miles mark. It also had one of the unreliable garret turbos.
So, I traded it.
For....
(roverboy will love this)
a 3 and a half year old MG ZT-T 190+ (V6) in Trophy blue with a mere 21k miles on the clock.
Financially it's near enough a straight swap. The MG has leather, FSH and Audio upgrade. It goes like stink and the V6 howls like a banshee when given a hard time. Lovely.
Got an awful lot of car for very little money, and beat the dealer (ex- MG-Rover) up suffeiciently to stangle both a good trade-in for the beemer, a few quid off the screen price of the MG and a full 12 month warranty.
And for those who are interested, the Rover 75 has just been voted UK used car of the year for the 2nd year running. Personally, I'm not surprised - I'm very impressed so far - the car seems really solid and great to drive. Comfy on a motorway cruise, bags of grip and grunt on a B-road blast. Perfect.
