Welcome! Did a Fincastle competition at RAAF Edinburgh years ago... very enjoyable time in a great part of Oz.Retired Australian Air Force - 1964 to 2005 and enjoyed every minute with no regrets.
Served alongside and socialised with many RAF members on various exercises in Australia and SE Asia.
I was in the Supply Branch and at the time the Air Force was undergoing a rapid expansion in term of aircraft and base modernisation. What trade were you? What aircraft did you fly/work on or see?
Good on you Rugby-Jock-Lad, I'm assuming by your user name that you follow rugby, I like to keep an eye on the international games (Rugby Union), particularly the Six Nations and teams such as the Wallabies, the All Blacks and Ireland.Welcome to the Goat Airforce!!!
Don't get much exposure to Aussie Rules here. Watched it on Sat morning TV years ago when some of our TV channels showed more obscure stuff and Aussie Rules was one of them. Like my Rugby Union obviously but Aussie Rules did look fun. Watching players run up opposition backs to catch the ball, various ball handling and kicking skills, tackling etc..... and the players got on with it accepting it as part of a hard but physical game!!! Defo looked fun.Good on you Rugby-Jock-Lad, I'm assuming by your user name that you follow rugby, I like to keep an eye on the international games (Rugby Union), particularly the Six Nations and teams such as the Wallabies, the All Blacks and Ireland.
I do however prefer to watch and support the game of Aussie Rules Football.
It can also get a bit rough at times, this is the women playing,I attended a pre-match lunch at the Adelaide Bulldogs. Good lunch and free piss. What struck me about the game was that the pitch was fooking massive, the humidity high and those blokes kept on running throughout.
I also used to watched Aussie rules on a Saturday morning (CH4 I think) and was left wandering just what you had to do get sent off. It appeared to the untrained eye that so long as no one actually killed an opponent all was fair game. From memory even the latest of late hits, or punch up, merely ended up with the instigator being put on report.I do however prefer to watch and support the game of Aussie Rules Football.
