You are quite right he didn't do one although a lot of folks at the time, me for one, thought it was him. Gary Jules did the cover in the style of Michael Stipe (whether intentionally or unintentionally), which isn't the same thing obviously.

There are some covers that should never see the light of day and the artist should be dipped in cilit bang, how ever there are some fantastic covers made, I found the Hayseed dixi's if you want to listen to them I was redirected here (dont worry MODs it came from there web site) if you like ac/dc or kiss them you will be happy, give this a go "you shook me all night long"
