Latest frim BBMF blog ...

A routine inspection has highlighted a fault with one of the Merlin engines in a Hurricane aircraft. We are currently investigating the fault and as a precaution, flying of Merlin engine powered aircraft has been paused. We are still operating Griffon & Gypsy powered aircraft, including Spitfires and Chipmunks. We realise the disappointment this will be to our many supporters, however safety remains our paramount concern.

Teething troubles

Teething troubles

Just teething troubles, all new aircraft suffer them. Once the RAF has been operating them for a few more years I expect all theses minor problems to be ironed out

I've loved listening to all the so called 'experts' talking sh1t on the TV and Radio and all of the 'well it wasn't designed to be flown for 70 years'. Really. The engines are probably newer that most of their cars and better serviced!

the Griffon Engined Spits are still flying...a bit of good news!

Apparently, its something to do with a Spinney-thing deep in the business end of the 'Donk' that has cracked and needs to be looked at with X-ray eyes (cos Cats Eyes Cunningham is no longer around).
As there are a lot of them BBMF is being a bit tetchy about ripping them apart...so i heard!
