I thought all E-Goaters would like to be informed of a charity set up on behalf of the horrifically wounded soldier Ben Parkinson.

It is being run by his local newspaper, Doncaster Today (doncasterfreepress.co.uk).

If anyone would like to support this unfortunate soldier, they can contribute to the 'Benjamin James Parkinson Trust'.

All cheques, made out to 'Ben Parkinson' or 'Ben Parkinson Trust' can be sent to:

Benjamin James Parkinson Trust,
Yorkshire Bank,
PO Box 17,
19 St Sephulchre Gate,
Doncaster,
South Yorkshire,
DN1 1SJ.

As an ex-army and ex-raf bloke, I know, that no matter which service we are in, we all help those servicemen who are much less fortunate than ourselves.

Thank You.

A worthy cause indeed folks so put your in your pockets and give Ben a boost

I have to question if we would be better doing something as the 'Goat' rather then a few sending £5.

Might mean more to Ben if he realised that we were here.

Over to you Gem.....

I agree with what you are saying, but the question is how do we do that?. It would mean someone organising the collection etc., not an easy thing, or maybe when you send your donation you make it plain where it came from.

I suppose one could send him an E-Goat shirt or something like that (not sure how that would go down with the 'brass') and a letter wishing him all the best and telling him that E-Goaters will be contributing to the 'Doncaster Today' fund.

He is currently in Headley Court, so there is no problem knowing where he is. Hopefully, they are trying to get him home for Christmas. I wish them all well, as Ben is the worst wounded soldier, to survive, that anyone can remember. Unfortunately Ben has to live with these appalling injuries for the rest of his life.

Come on lads and lasses make the effort. It is not much for us to do, but means a hell of a lot for him.

It makes me thankful how lucky I am, especially when one is moaning about some trivia.

I am going to get a shirt for him! and send him best wishes from all the E-Goaters.

Highflight is right, the logistics of organising an appeal on the scale of the Nick Lock fund for example is enormously time and resource intensive. We would of course do the same again if it meant we had the chance to save a life but with cases like Ben's the best we can do is to keep his name and details of where to send donations in the public eye and that we will gladly do.

Ben is without doubt a special case but so are all our wounded. My involvement with Nick, RAFA,RBL and the other fundraising agencies proved one thing to me, the money whilst it is very important will be raised come what may for people like Ben. What is more important is that he and his family knows you are supporting him, so letters to him at Headley court, a goat tee shirt or a Squadron shirt quite possibly would mean more than a tenner sent to the bank.

I totally agree. Ben and his parents would, I am sure, love to receive any form of communication/gift etc. It shows we care and offers moral support to him and his familiy at these very differcult times.

ANY E-GOATER READING THIS, PLEASE JUST PUT A SHORT MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FOR BEN. I AM SURE IT WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED BY THE FAMILY.

Pay homage to the dead, but remember the living.

Just a quicky.

If anyone is going to send a T shirt to Ben, remember he was a big guy, well over 6' and very fit. So any clothing should be XL or above to fit his upper torso.

Sorry I cannot be more precise, but I hope this helps.

As Ben did.
