Has anyone been through the Bristol Executive Management Programme (BEMP), at Bristol Management Centre?

The reason I ask: is it a beneficial course? and, does it stand you in good stead for experience in management?

It covers Accounting and Finance in the first week, Operations in the second and Organisational Strategy and Marketing in the third. There is also the option to take what they term as an elective (i.e. Prince2, Managing Change etc). It does sound rather enticing.

Any info regarding this course would be great,

Cheers.

Are you a troll? Have you joined e-Goat to advertise a course? The third post is normally when goaters with a hidden agenda strike. Training doesn't endow experience, and the course length won't endow much training either! Enticing isn't the word I would use. You seem to have a lot of info on the course already, are you waiting for an accomplice to reply?

I fully appreciate the way I have written my original post may be misconstrued as a sales pitch. This is certainly not the case, I am on an information gathering exercise. My other 2 posts were with regards to a fibre optics course and associated careers, and secondly PLC/SCADA programming.

If my original post has put others off from answering, then my apologies. To those who do have first hand experience with this course, or know someone who has, can you please divulge if the course was worth while.

Thank you.

I did their ILM Diploma course 5 years ago and whilst it offers some valuable insights into how a civvy business should work it didn't really expand on what I was already doing or what I picked up on GST/TMT. There was a lot of Demming 14 Points and Toyota, accounting for non-accountants was useful and some other bits were also of use.

If you want to know how useful the course is, see how many job adverts ask for that specific qualification. Not many asked me for my Diploma and some employers had no idea what I was talking about.

OK DD75,

I now understand that you are not the Sales manager for the course. I wish you success with your info gathering exercise.

Out of curiosity, it seems a short course with a grand title. Is it expensive?

They tailored it to suit service leavers, so covers an ELC, IRTC grant plus a little from your own 'piggy bank'. They say it's about 60 quid or so from your own pocket. Will check in the morning. This is why I am tempted, but I don't want to jump straight in with out finding out if it is worth while.
