A good sensible decision, none of that 'messiah' bollocks that they keep going on about up the road with the owner only listening to the fans and making terrible appointments.

Sure he was a fan of the mags when he was a lad but so was Bob Stokoe and he led us to the cup final win in 73.

Looking forward to a good 09/10 season where I'm hoping he will guide us to a good safe mid table finish (or better) and build on things from there.

Hope it works out for you lot. Heard Dave Whelan (Wigan Chairman) speaking on Sky sports news this afternoon he wished Bruce all the best praised his skills as manager and thanked Niall Quinn for his conduct throughout. I have to say I spoke to a long standing Sunderland fan (Capt Slog) last week and he was hoping Strachan got the job rather than Bruce.

I said Slavin (as in Bilic) not Strachan Tb, you need to keep taking your medicine!

Can’t say I am over the moon with the appointment, nothing to do with him being a Geordie as I come from further North of Northumberland than he does. However he is here and in Niall we trust so if he wants him, I will support him. In his favour he does have a reputation of having one of the best scouting set ups in the whole of the Premiership, so lets hope he picks up a couple of Gems (footballers not Armourers). The first thing he needs to do is clear out a lot of the deadwood from the Keane era. Then he needs a new strike force, although I have seen a rumour on the Tinternet that we are in for Darren Bent and the 6ft 8in Nikola Zigic of Valencia. Now that our American billionaire owner Ellis Short has bought out the club to become the sole owner (please don’t mention Liverpool), here’s hoping we can now push on and have a season where we are not fighting against relegation.

Still, even if we did get relegated, we would not be playing Newcastle as they will go into administration by Christmas, have 10 points deducted and be playing in League One in 2010.
