Hi:
My name is Alan and I am an avid model plane [and other stuff] builder. My main purpose in joining this forum is to get info on a 227 Squadron Lancaster - 9J-R, which flew its last mission in March 5/6 1945. My wife's uncle was the flight engineer on this mission - his name was Jack Robb. He survived as a POW for the remainder of the war and died in Scotland a few years ago. I am planning to build a model of his Lanc and have most of the detail but do not have an image of the nose art. This was apparently a "Jolly Roger." I would appreciate input from anyone with some knowledge of this. I already have much of Jack Robb's memorabelia including a photo of the crew.
On another tack, my late father was an officer on the Dido AA Cruiser HMS Argonaut over the period 1944 - 1946. He saw action on D-Day, the Mediterranean, Sumatra, the Pacific and off Japan. He has fond memories of the FAA activities. I have a number of models of the various FAA aircraft and am always interested in the background behind their missions.
