Oh dear the claret and blue lot from jct 10 have made it to the promised land for the first time in 30 odd years. Still with the money they should be able to buy everybody in the town a Hollands pie to celebrate. Sunderland fans will also rejoice at the promotion as now there is a team with a realistic chance of going down with less points than the 15 points they once mustered. The only saving grace to this unexpected turn of events is the extra 6 points the blue and white halves will be getting next season. Good goal from Elliot and well done the manager for fashioning a silk purse from a sows ear.

FFS I even said well done - through gritted teeth mind

Congratulations to Burnley. I have no love for Sheff Utd and am genuinley pleased to not have them in top-flight footy next season. Lets just hope they dont sue another claret and blue team due to their own failings!!!!!

Bring yourself up to date TB - Derby hold the record for the least points!

As a Sunderland fan, I am really pleased to see Burnley in the top flight. As I would have been to see any side, as they took Newcastle's place!!!

Well I stand corrected I was sure Sunderland had the low points record but as my Mrs is fond of telling me "TB your wrong again". On the plus side Derby won't hold the record for to much longer now that lot are in the division.

I reckon i'll happily take a gentleman's bet with you, if you fancy it, Tin Basher? As a Clarets fan, I'm hoping we get at least 41 points next season.

Do we have a bet? 41 or more, i win....41 or less, you win.

As a Sunderland fan I wish you all the best in the Premiership, as it has already been stated - any team that replaces Newcastle in the Prem gets my vote.

By the way Tb, as MWD said, it was Derby who broke our "record" with 11 points in season 07-08.

No mention of stakes! But if you think that lot can gather 41 points + in one season you are a brave man.

Ummmm.... Soo if they get exactly 41 points, you both win?

If they get 41 points then Lord Lucan riding Shergar can draw the winner by ballot. I will concede however there is a chance of them using the digits 1 and 4 though not necassarily in the same order as quoted above.

Another pre-season friendly going well for the Mighty Stanley latest score from the Crown ground after 35 minutes.

Accy Stanley 1 - Burnley 0
