bush hats, floppy hats?

are bush hats, or floppy hats whatever you call them standard issue or do i have to pay? goin on exercise and these are much better that wearing a beret, looks cooler to?

They're issued and can be worn in lieu of a beret, when your on ops. Not sure about exercises, but everyone in Kandahar wears one.

Only if they are on your kitting list and it won't be your decision if your allowed to wear or not, also don't tell them in clothing stores it's because you want to look cool!

You'd look a right tube in the wearing one in the UK pal. If you're going to a sandy place - you'll get one... if you are still in training - you won't.

Tell you what - you sound like a right cabbage. the sort of person who loves all the Gucci Kit but is destined to get as near to the desert as the barrier on the front gate.

Yes Big J you can get them in Desert, MTP Multicam or standard DPM in all range of sizes, but as mentioned previously, they're not generally worn in the UK, even on exercise.

If you're that desperate, you could always get one off of eBay!

What is wrong with wearing your beret?

See an officer whilst your wearing a beret & you have to salute, if your wearing a floppy hat you don't salute. What better reason do you need?

You still have to salute if you are wearing a floppy hat! It's uniform headress so no different to a beret/SD Hat/forage cap/turban.

RIGHT! If you are on exercise you wear your Helmet! If you are off duty or its pre ex prep then, dependant on the weather, wear a wooly hat or, if issued a floppy. Green CS95 floppies are only issued for the jungle. That said, just because you have one to keep comfy/the sun off your head etc, doesn't make you a cabbage, it makes you sensible! And yes, I had one until it was robbed on exercise!
