Hello everybody, does anyone know the answer to the following?

If all A grades off a board got promoted and there's no B grades would a C grade get promoted if there was a slot available?

Thanks.

Yes they would.

A few years ago, it was pretty common for "A and C" boards.

Not if they weren't scored on the board!

With the smaller trades all tend to be read by the board but unless the they score them, then they would not and could not be used for a vacant slot, it would be gapped by manning, probably filled at unit level with a local acting promotion until the next board. In some cases there have been 'C' candidates who have been scored and have scored higher than some 'A' grades.

Might be worth asking your desk if its specific to your trade. He can't be that busy to answer the question.

The last time I knew of it happening was in the days when we still had A/Cpl PTIs. The last couple of SAC to Cpl PSBs saw more 'C' grades promoted than 'A' grades but the only reason they were Cs was their lack of seniority.

But that was a good few years ago and I haven't seen it happen since.

I'll ask the desk on Monday. Odd thing is the manning intranet stated 5 'A' grades, no 'B' grades and 2 'C' grades. Airspaces website CO Pers bulletin stated 3 'A' grades, no 'B' grades and 2 'C' grades, which one am I meant to believe?? It's confusing!!
