Hi there, I stumbled on e-goat when I did a search for TPF Marham. I found the TPF sumpies thread and it brought back some memories. That thread is closed now otherwise I would have posted there. "it's-me-isn't-it" posted these wise words:-
"
I was there 88- 94 with the mad FS Strapper
I remember him well ,especially the Fruit salad incidents.
"FFFFruit SSSSalads are banned"
Now that made me giggle. I suddenly remembered driving to Watton at 04.00 hrs one morning and tywrapping a 3' x 2' fruit salad wrapper to a lampost at the end of FS Strapper's street. I also remember the next two days were taken up with the entire TPF staff being interviewed to try and discover the culprit. I believe that he reported the incident to the RAFP and that roars of laughter could be heard from the other end of the phone.
I also have fond memories of being the instigator and editor of that fine publication, The Pink Flamingo. I was quite surprised how much I got away with. I remember our Luftwaffe exchange flight commander dashing into the crewroom with his English/German dictionary after reading the article about him saying, "Cpl G...... was ist "follically challenged?"
Despite reading some adverse comments about TPF, I quite enjoyed it. Does anyone know if there are any plans to turn TPF over to civilian contract? I still live in the area and work at Norwich airport. I wouldn't mind working at TPF again as a civvy.
