I am being moved out of my house while it is having work done to it they expect me to be out for 2-3 weeks. I will have to do a march in march out at the new house too, i was told Tuesday to be out by Monday so work can begin the move is all self help.

Does anyone know if i can get any sort of allowance for the cost of cleaning etc and the loss of my internet and telephone for the duation of the move.

You can only claim for Disturbance Allowance for the move, that will cover your costs in terms of cleaning etc. Claim it on JPA and you will see it in your pay next month.

Did you arrange removals for it? You would have been entitled however if you are moving Monday then its far too short a notice to sort out.

I have tried the disturbance allowance but because its only temporary they wont pay out. I wondered if there was something else or a loop hole.

I would ask that question again about DA. You are being moved not you choosing to move. What if the work on your SFA runs into a problem and turns from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. Do you have to move all your possessions. Guys where I am are being moved out of their SFA during refurbishment and are receiving DA.

Also I remember that the singly officers at NHT were getting DA twice for having to move out of the mess into temp accommodation and back in once the new mess was completed.

If they move you, you are indeed entitled to be compensated.

I got moved out of one of my quarters because they sold it! They paid for movers and I also got part DA. You dont get all of it if you move just round the corner!
Someone in your HR must surely know this?

The only thing I can think of is that they are following the JSP to the letter where it states that you are entitled where it is a move known to be for more than 6 months. However there have been exceptions to the rule and TBH if DE are moving someone for work to be carried out on SFA then it should really be paid, not necessarily for 2 moves as in this case but certainly for one as there is cost involved. Especially if they are asking for it to be marched out of i.e. clean it. There are all the other costs, telephone, internet, i would include redirecting mail (as they will not have access to the property whilst work is going on) etc to be considered

One of my workmates has just been paid full whack DA for moving out of a quarter round the corner to a new one. He manged to arrange it so they wouldnt go go back to the old one as it is having some nasty problems sorted.

They are moving you and its not through your choice so surely if the house is to be vacated you should get something? Mind you as i'm constantly reminded it's the air force not the fair force....

I have been told that they dont do part DA anymore its all or nothing, there answer to the telephone and internet was there are lots of places on camp where i can get internet access free via wireless i.e the hive etc.

I will try again on Monday to see if they can compensate for the cost of cleaning materials at least. I dont think the woman in the hive will be too pleased when i spread out all my OU stuff to study with in the hive.

As far as they know do you have a wireless laptop? if you kick up enough stink you will get DA , dig your heels in get quotes for changing insurance, redirecting mail etc etc etc internet loss telephone costs then present it to DHE im sure they will reconsider.

Hmm, tell them your not moving until they've given you reasonable notice and until they arrange a house mover to move your possessions. You could call the SSAFA for advice, DE (or whoever it is today) are a bunch of fcukers who will try it on if they think they can get away with it.

Without the JSP here to refer to, it just seems unreasonable to expect you to move with such short notice and to do it on a self-help basis. Even if you dont get DA, they should pay for removals. If you do this, it might prompt them to move you to the new address permanently (and with DA) to avoid paying 2 sets of removals.

I agree completely with the previous posters. You are entitled to DA if you are required to move home for Service reasons. I can think of several examples where people have moved SFA due to refurbishment, or even flood damage, and claimed both DA and removals - sometimes to move less than 100 metres.

You are also entitled to 93 days notice to vacate your SFA so to tell you on Tuesday that you have to be out by the following Monday is clearly unacceptable. Obviously, you can move sooner than that if it suits your needs.

Normally, I would tell you to phone DE on the next working day and tell them to poke it. Since time is short, I suggest you call the duty staff at your unit and tell them you need to speak to the Padre.
