Does anyone know of a QR/AP/DIN etc reference which provides guidance or policy on when leave can be cancelled for Service reasons.

JSP 760 relates to all types of leave, It's freely available from the MOD internet site, a google search will find it.

Chapter one references, when it can be refused, dealing with complaints on refusal and recalling personnel from leave.

0.008 The granting and timing of all forms of absence (with the exception of the Statutory Maternity and Adoption Leave, or when absence is unavoidable e.g. Civil Custody or absence on medical grounds) is to be at the discretion of the Service and is subject to operational requirements and the general exigencies of the Service.

The last bit "subject to operational requirements and the general exigencies of the Service" seems to be a capture all scenario doesn't it?

Yup, not by accident either I'd imagine. In my experience it doesn't matter what I've been looking up, med issues, postings and assignments, leave, promotions... They all favour the service, completely understand why but it still narks when it adversely affects you as an individual!

Sorry, I know that's probably of no help! Lol.

I didnt realise War had broken out recently - or is it a case of some brown-nosed career zob needs an "urgent" bit of information to pass up the chain.

Cancelling of leave at this time of year can have a pretty morale-sapping effect, if you are taking leave to get you down to 15 days, only to find that there is a crisis* on during the last week in March!

*for Crisis read "Bad planning by management"

No it's been going for a few years now and those on Squadrons and in pinch trades are regularly out in warmer climes Earning their money and still have to do all the Hoop jumping once their back instead of spending time with their families.

Ok, so no additional surge of personnel needing to be mobilised - those who are on ops have known for a while, and those earmarked for ops have also known for a while. We've all known since last July that on 1 April, any leave unused >15 days gets wiped unless you apply through the CO.

So I guess any leave cancellation is down to the bit that you edited out of my original statement.

For additional surge would the last minute olympics fiasco and the jubilee parade count since they have only just sorted that? almost.
